New Program Initiative

School Kits for Keiki

Another new program initiative was launched by Hawaiian Lodge a month before the opening of the 2012 academic year. “School Kits for Keiki” called for donations of school supplies for students at Aiea Elementary School. This school has been adopted by the Lodge five years ago.  Lodge members have volunteered hundreds of man-hour work since then, weeding the lawn, raking the yard, cleaning the cafeteria and the library, helped put up the students’ vegetable garden, maintain the school’s open-air stage, and other tasks. This year, the Lodge collected various school supplies for use of students who may not be able to afford to purchase them.

Aiea Elementary School services a large number of students from low-income housing units.

Bro. David Gomes, assisted by a staff at Aiea Elementary School, arranges the supply donations on the table.
